Having worked in a career related to project management, I was always looking for ways to shape skills and knowledge in real-life situations. A good example of this is volunteering.
At the end of the program, I realized that this volunteering experience not only helped students with their projects, but also shaped my growth in project management.
Choosing to Volunteer
When I noticed the opportunity on PMI’s website offering an opportunity to become a mentor for university students, I thought this could be a good chance for me to get practical experience.
But, when I joined this virtual mentoring program, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I just wanted to give back to the community, share what I have learned, and help others.
Like any new business, I had my doubts.
“Could I meet their expectations?”
“Would I be able to contribute and help students?”
With those questions in mind, I decided to give it a go.
